Rangers concerned about third base
The Rangers may be in the market for a third baseman, preferably a right-handed hitter. But they need somebody who can handle the position defensively.
They started the year with Hank Blalock but he's moving to first base when he gets off the disabled list. They have been platooning Ramon Vazquez and German Duran since then. Vazquez is having a terrific year offensively but is better suited to a utility role rather than an everyday third baseman.
Duran is a great prospect who is starting only against left-handers. The Rangers would prefer he be playing at Triple A Oklahoma. Travis Metcalf is their third baseman at Oklahoma but is struggling offensively.
This could be an area the Rangers look to upgrade

What we are doing, is preparing for a launch of the site, which is typically going to be a type of MySpace for sports, a social networking site for fans of all ages, covering every team, special events and news. We offer forums, blogs, featured articles, member interaction, trash-cam videos and much more.
July 31st, is a special time in baseball where some teams gain hope, and some teams show no signs of hope and sell everyone off, and we want you to be with us, sharing in the joy and agony of watching players on the move.
The site is in Alpha stages at the moment, and you will see a lot of issues being addressed. Once they are, the site goes Beta and that’s where you come in, to test it out, give feedback and tell us what you like or don’t like before we go live with a launch.
So if you are a diehard fan, we welcome you to join us at www.diehard101.com/phpfox

Hey, Bill Hall is available from the Brewers. Don't know that Texas has the pitching that the Brewers need, but who knows? If Millwood could stay healthy, that would be an option. How about this trade: Fielder and Hall for Padilla and Blaylock? Kill several birds with one stone. :)

tim.somers - if the brewers would part with fielder and hall, the rangers would GLADLY take them for the afore mentioned padilla and blalock. if that did happen, the rangers would probably want a pitching prospect too, but would probably be wanting maybe a pitching prospect too. if this happened, the rangers would probably make fielder a DH, and could then trade bradley for a handful of prospects.

Texas would be really stupid 2 trade anyone for a third baseman when they dont even have starting pitching and no realistic shot at the playoffs they should stick with Vazquez at third for the rest of this season and look to add someone in the offseason at third base in the meantime they should be working the phones trying to deal Millwood and Padilla for some youthful pitching prospects that could help us next year in the ML.

Adrian Beltre would be a great fit. Safeco has held back his power the last few years (slugging 50 points higher on the road in last 3.5 years). He has elite defense. He's probably making market-value money, so he'd be worth a couple good prospects, with the Rangers picking up some draft picks when he leaves after 2009.
