Torre has long-term view
Dodgers manager Joe Torre straddled the fence when asked if he was confident chairman Frank McCourt and general manager Ned Colletti would make a deadline trade to win this year if it meant trading away part of the club's future. Torre said he didn't think winning a World Series one year was worth compromising the building of a contender for multiple years, but he also said he thinks management is "willing to do what they need to do to compete here." -- Ken Gurnick
I think the real question is... will the LA Dodgers sign RHP Shawn Chacon!? Hmmm, interesting.

Every starting pitcher in the Dodger organization, hurt or not, is far better then Chacon. It is more important the Dodgers get heathy then trade. Maybe a right hand power hitter?

trade Andruw Jones and get someone who will hit the ball every once in a while...when he's not on the disabled list.

Its pretty sad to think that last year the leader on the Dodgers in HR and RBI's was Jeff Kent whom had a very mediocre season, especially after all the in-dugout criticism. He only had 20 HR's, and by the way it looks, he will lead the team with about the same number this season. If Torre wants to build up for the future, maybe finding a veteran with proven power could help. Jones was noble, but he is having a really bad season this year. Maybe the second half, he could turn it up a notch.

I'd feel more confident if Frank McCourt fired Ned Colletti.
