X marks the spot

Bucs right fielder Xavier Nady is back in the lineup after missing nearly two weeks nursing a left shoulder strain. Not only is this good news for the Pirates obviously, considering Nady has been their most consistent bat all season, but his return also comes at a critical time as he is sure to pique the interest of clubs needing outfield upgrades.

It's no secret Nady has been plagued by nagging injuries througout his career, though the hope is that this recent bout with shoulder stiffness won't become the next one. Getting Nady back on the field now will give the Pirates a full month to showcase what has been a stellar offensive year from the outfielder, and should be enough time to convince prospective suitors that he is healthy enough to finish the season strong. Nady is still expected to be the first outfielder shipped out of Pittsburgh because of his contract status (one more arbitration year) and agent (Scott Boras) as long as he can remain healthy enough to attract a good package of prospects for the organization in return.
