Marlins in Fuentes mix?
According to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, the Marlins are among a half-dozen teams pursuing Rockies lefty reliever Brian Fuentes, who has a track record either setting up or closing. The Marlins are always searching for more pitching, and it's no secret that they're seeking help in the bullpen. Considering the team hasn't had a complete game since Sept. 16, 2006, that means every night the bullpen is being used. While the pen has done a nice job, lefty reliever Renyel Pinto may find himself appearing in more than 90 games. So adding another lefty, who also can close, would be a tremendous asset down the stretch. The search for a veteran catcher also continues, but the market is pretty slim in that area. Marlins veteran lefty Mark Hendrickson appears to be available for trade options. Now out of the rotation, Hendrickson has been working in long relief, and he's seeing limited action. It is doubtful Hendrickson will start again for Florida this season.
