Dodgers Acquire Sherrill

The Dodgers shored up their bullpen Thursday by acquiring Baltimore closer George Sherrill in exchange for two prospects, slugging third baseman Josh Bell and riht-handed pitcher Steve Johnson, according to baseball sources.

The left-handed Sherrill can serve as a set-up man, or share closer roles with Jonathan Broxton.

The Dodgers still are hoping to acquire a starting pitcher and are rumored to still be pursuing Toronto’s Roy Halladay in exchange for a package of prospects. – Ken Gurnick

Nice pull so far! Is it VMart and Halladay now? It would take ALOT…aw hell, do it!

woot. frasor and halladay to follow?

great – now trade Stults and some prospects for Halladay

Yeah a package built around Stults should net Halladay.

What is there to praise here? This reeks of a panic.

Look up the guys the Dodgers traded away. All for what? Relief depth?

now lets get Halladay. Why arent the dodgers jumping at the oppurtunity at aquiring hime without giving up billingsley or kershaw. If we aquire him our starters in the playoffs will be great. Halladay, Billingsley and then kershaw

I think it was a wise move from the Dodgers part to acquire Sherrill. After all, it was pretty much conceivable that the Dodgers would go for the bullpen. Anyway, slugging the third baseman Josh Bell was very much not on the list I guess and it was really surprising, at least for me. I think the left handed Sherrill would just serve fine as he can serve pretty well as the set-up man in addition to the closer roles he could do with Jonathan Bronxton!Burton snowboards
